Day 31 – Terre Haute

Tomorrow came and we discovered that the repairs had only extended to replacing the tyre. Jack was informed and didn’t seem too worried about the comments regarding the other tyres. We will spend the last few days with no jack stability, no gas cooker and intermittent fridge operation. Oh well. Such is an adventure. We decided to take the smaller roads through Indiana and struggled to find a) a place of interest to break the journey and b) a camp site far enough away with all that we needed.Terre Haute was someone’s idea of a joke as the town was long, ribbon-like and as flat as Twiggy’s chest. Apologies to Twiggy and all those too young to understand. It was time to catch up on all the things that make you sane – pay some bills, check the 70 or so emails, see who was doing what in soccer and tidy away some bits – all very anally retentive, I hear you think. Then a swim and a read, time to write up a few words and sit around a smoking fire and watch the world slowly spin on its axis
